Meet Orion, our Student of the Year from Northwest Christian School Lower Campus! We had the privilege of giving Orion a special Ride-In to school this week as part of our Student of the Year program. His morning started with a tour of Station 44 and an up-close look at the engine and equipment. Just as the tour was getting underway, the crew was dispatched to a call. Fortunately, they returned in time for Orion to begin his ride to school, although another call meant he had to switch from the engine to WT44 about three-quarters of the way through the trip!Orion ultimately arrived at school in style as part of a two-vehicle convoy with SQ44 and WT44. Waiting for him was nearly the entire lower campus, gathered outside to cheer him on. The excitement was incredible, and the cheers could be heard over the sirens as he pulled in.When selecting Orion as Student of the Year, the school shared:"Orion consistently shows integrity even when it's hard. He always has a positive attitude, a respectful demeanor, and encourages others. His classmates look to him as a leader, and we can always count on Orion to do what's right."After spending the morning with him, it's easy to see why he was chosen. Orion is a great young man who represents his school and community well, and he had the biggest smile on his face throughout the experience.Congratulations, Orion! We were honored to be part of your special day. ... See MoreSee Less

🌟Member Spotlight🌟Meet Firefighter/EMT Elvis B. Assigned to Station 45- C Shift.Elvis was born and raised in Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, before moving to Spokane in 1995. Since then, he has built a life centered around family, service, and community. He raised two daughters, and this past Christmas Eve, his family welcomed a very special addition when Elvis became a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Emerald. Before joining Spokane County Fire District 4, Elvis spent more than 20 years working at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Looking for another way to serve those around him, he joined the District nearly 11 years ago as a volunteer firefighter. His commitment to giving back eventually led him to a career position, where he has proudly served as a career firefighter for the past 2½ years. When he's off duty, you'll likely find Elvis working on cars, riding his motorcycle, or enjoying the outdoors. He's always appreciated hands-on projects and opportunities to spend time outside. Asked where he would go if he had a time machine, Elvis chose a day fishing with his grandfather, a memory that clearly still means a great deal to him. And if you're ever wondering how to win Elvis over, the answer is easy: steak and eggs with biscuits and gravy.Thank you, Elvis, for your continued service and dedication#SCFD4e#MemberSpotlightF#firstrespondersg#FireServiceponders #FireService ...
